Attorney Rachel Gusman Selected as Chair of the Minority Caucus for AAJ

Graves McLain is proud to announce that one of its distinguished junior partners, Rachel Gusman, Esq., has been selected by her peers to serve as the Chair of the Minority Caucus of the American Association for Justice (AAJ).

For almost three decades, the Minority Caucus has continued to recommend and develop educational opportunities, networking programs, and other activities of special interest to AAJ members of a minority. Today it is a broad-based international coalition of attorneys, law professors, paralegals, and law students.

With a mission to promote an equitable and effective justice system, the AAJ works to block attempts in Congress to preempt state civil justice laws, and elects both state and federal legislators who share in this mission. It works to educate and disseminate vital information regarding public health and safety and ultimately to protect the democratic values within our civil justice system.

The AAJ hopes to ensure that any individual injured by the misconduct or negligence of another is able to obtain justice – no matter how powerful his or her opposition. Ms. Gusman shared her excitement about helping to further the AAJ’s mission. “As incoming chair, I am honored to lead and serve the outstanding minority lawyers across this country as we continue to work toward diversifying our profession, developing minority leaders and protecting our clients’ rights to the civil justice system.”

A passionate – and compassionate – advocate for the rights of her clients, Ms. Gusman is no stranger to giving back. As a volunteer for Lawyers Fighting Hunger as well as Tulsa Lawyers for Children, she works to better the lives of those less fortunate.

Ms. Gusman focuses her practice in the areas of medical negligence, motor vehicle accidents, personal injuries, vaccine injuries, and civil rights litigation. She has been named to the Oklahoma Rising Star list in Super Lawyers® for six consecutive years.
