Graves McLain Backpack Program Featured on Good Day Tulsa
On Tuesday, August 6th, Attorney Chad McLain of Graves McLain appeared on KTUL’s Good Day Tulsa program to discuss the 2019 Graves McLain Backpack Program. Jermaine Watkins, a Climate & Culture/Academic Engagement Teacher with Tulsa Public Schools, joined Chad to talk about how the program positively impacts the students.
What is the Graves McLain Backpack Program?
Graves McLain began their backpack program in 2016 with one school, after seeing the success of a similar program run by Maples, Nix & Diesselhorst in Oklahoma City. The Oklahoma Association for Justice, a 500-member lawyer’s group, is a major supporter of the program.
This year, 3100 students in 6 Tulsa schools will be receiving backpacks. The need for programs like this is anticipated to continue to grow in the upcoming years. The need for this program is evident in the statistics:
With the average family spending over $100 per child on school supplies alone, these costs can quickly add up. Graves McLain hopes to ease the burden on Tulsa families with their Backpack Program – a project that continues to grow with community support and assistance from other local groups.
This important annual initiative is supported by many different local and state organizations, including the Tulsa Police Department, Oklahoma Association for Justice, Tulsa Public Schools, All Souls Church, and Partners in Education.
If you would like to donate to the Graves McLain Backpack Program for the upcoming school year, please fill out this form and a member of the Graves McLain team will contact you to discuss how you can help support this important community initiative.
