The Graves McLain Backpack Program donated brand-new free backpacks filled with school supplies to the entire student body at Jackson Elementary.
Principle Elmer Thomas kicked off the assembly welcoming the students back to school and introducing Graves McLain Attorney, Rachel Gusman. Rachel spoke to the students about the importance of education, how much the community believes in them, and that there is no dream too big.
Tulsa Police Officer, Derrick Alexander, concluded the speaking portion of the assembly with words of motivation. Officer Alexander connected with the kids having also been raised in our local community.
At the end of the assembly, Principal Thomas told the students they would be given free backpacks filled with school supplies!
The backpacks were donated by Graves McLain Law Firm in partnership with Oklahoma Association for Justice. Every backpack was filled with needed school supplies such as notebooks, glue, binders, tissues and more.
Officer Derrick Alexander, officer Leland Ashley, and attorney Rachel Gusman handed out handshakes, well-wishes, and the free backpacks at the assembly.
We would like to thank all of the volunteers that supported this program from All Souls Church, Nancy McDonald, Partners in Education, The Oklahoma Association for Justice, and the Gilcrease Police Department. We could not have done this without your help.
