Serious Car Accident Caused by Driver That Made Illegal Passing Attempt Leaves One Person in Critical Condition

A serious traffic accident involving two vehicles left three motorists hospitalized on Monday night, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. The accident is still under investigation, but it appears that an act of reckless driving caused the head-on collision.

According to Police, the accident took place at around 11:30 pm on the evening of Monday, February 8th on OK State Highway 20 about 4 miles west of Claremore. One of the drivers was attempting to pass a vehicle when he entered the opposing lane of traffic and collided with an SUV heading the opposite direction.

The driver that crossed the center lane was in a no-passing zone when the collision took place. Both drivers and one passenger were hospitalized after the accident, and one of the drivers was listed in critical condition.

There were over 60,000 traffic accidents in Oklahoma in 2014.

When drivers disregard the rules of the road, the results can be devastating. If the driver that caused this serious accident had obeyed the law and recognized that he was in a no-passing zone, it is likely that this accident could have been avoided.
