Tulsa Doctor Loses Medical License after Issuing Unsafe Prescription Medications

The Oklahoma Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision recently concluded an investigation into a Tulsa-area doctor that resulted in the suspension of the doctor’s medical license. The Oklahoma Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision is responsible for overseeing and regulating the practice of medicine in the state and only goes as far as suspending a doctor’s medical license in extreme cases of negligence or malpractice.

In this case, the Board concluded that the doctor in question had been issuing prescription medication to patients without performing the proper exams or keeping adequate medical records.

The investigation launched into the Tulsa, OK practice of Dr. Tamerlane Rozsa found multiple instances where her patients had been issued prescriptions for dangerous, controlled substances that were either unnecessary, improperly documented, or dangerous in combination with one another. Further investigation found that some local pharmacies had actually stopped filling prescriptions written by Dr. Rozsa due to her reputation as an irresponsible and reckless physician.

After investigators issued a subpoena of Dr. Rozsa’s practice and medical records, the Oklahoma Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision held an emergency meeting in March to discuss her case. It was declared that Dr. Rozsa is no longer licensed to operate in the state of Oklahoma because she “cannot practice medicine with a reasonable degree of safety, competency, and skill sufficient to protect the public health.”

Dr. Rozsa will appear before the Board for a full hearing and final decision about her case on May 14th, 2015.
